    Angry averageifs on multiple tables/ranges

I want to use the averageif or averageifs function to average the times based on the task. From this view: Task 1 average is 0:10, Task 2 is 0:13.5, etc

I've tried several solutions with no success, please help!

    Hi Kpkammer,

From this view: Task 1 average is 0:10
I am getting Task 1 average as 1:43:23... see the attachment and take the average of yellow cells..
which cells you are considering for Task 1?

@kvsrinivasamurthy, given the repetitive layout and distinct data types you can in fact use a single range:

or, in 2003 (pre AVERAGEIF(s)) you could use single SUMIF/COUNTIF

The average I was talking about was from the image I was talking about. I also want to average only the top values, then only the bottom values.

That doesn't help me. I have multiple tables/ranges I need to average over.

kpkammer, see attached (based on your sample data)

Fundamental point being that where your "multiple ranges" follow a pattern (data type and layout) then you do not need to treat each separately, the nature of the functions you're using will handle the data appropriately.
