Unhappy Listing and sorting text data multiple entries

So I am looking for a way of sorting entered data ascending to then use in a sub-dv list. Basically, on the attachment below, a user enters in details on the application sheet. Here there are two columns of interest, CRN and application number. Each application number is unique, but each CRN can have multiple application numbers. On the List sheet, I was hoping to have the CRN column sorted ascending including multiple matches and then display their corresponding application number.

I had a go at it, but I'm failing to get exactly what I was hoping for. I believe there is a way of doing it using functions and not VBA, so I was hoping to find this solution (but for me, it was to no avail!)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you rylo! That's brilliant - I tried out adding the data in the subDV list and it worked a treat! You're a life saver!

Re: Listing and sorting text data multiple entries

I seem to be having some teething problems with this sheet. I have tried to replicate the formula by rylo, but I'm having problems. What I am trying to do is if the application sheet is populated by a new application number, and either an existing or new CRN, then the List Sheet is automatically updated with the sorted values, so the output sub DV lists are automatically updated.

So my problems are occuring now when new data is being entered in, as the list doesn't update itself, even though I have used named dynamic ranges to expand as the list increases.

Sorry to be a pain. Here's my latest spreadsheet attempt.SubDVWorking.xlsx

    Thanks again.
