Using conditional formatting to highlight an entire row based on one cell

    Hi there!

I'm confused whether to use SEARCH, OR, or IFNUMBER or other similar functions to use as a conditional formatting formula.

I basically want an entire row to be highlighted green, if the cell in Row F has any of a list of words that is placed elsewhere in the worksheet.

    For example,

For row 10 to turn green if F10 has any of the following words:

    Senior
    Manager
    Businessman

and for that to work on the other rows in the worksheet.

I've been trying for hours now but I still can't get it to work /: any help would be much appreciated!!

    Hi

Maybe you can use something like this,if your list is not big..

    =OR($F$10="senior",$F$10="Manager",$F$10="Businessman")

You want to see if there is any word of above in F10?

    For example in F10:
Please Login or Register to view this content.
should return TRUE in conditional formatting?

    Try this:

    Formula: copy to clipboard

Re: Using conditional formatting to highlight an entire row based on one cell

Thanks so much for the help guys,

    What I did was this:

    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.

where it searches G2 for the words in 'lists' (Name Manager). If it finds any one of the words on the list, its supposed to turn to 'Y'. I then created a conditional formatting rule to highlight the entire row if there is 'Y'.

It works, but only for the first word on the list: senior
