Conditional Formatting - copying rules possible?

so, the example is that i have a conditional format rule i want for all cells, individually. The rule is quite simple, i want for them to be blank if there is no answer, and the fill to be white. The reason this comes up is because the chart has different color as the default. So, would like the cell to show up changed to white when blank.

the main question i have is this: is there any way to copy that same rule to all cells selected, or would i have to go to each cell, and make that rule? or, all together, is there an easier way of creating this conditional format rule for all selected cells?

    Hi Apelcius,

I would suggest you to remove the $ sign from the references in the conditional formatting formula and copy source cell and paste special formatting in others cells. This will copy the conditional formatting rules. In case of any issue, please upload the sample workbook. Thanks.

Click on Conditional Format on the Home Tab

    Select Manage Rules

In the Applies to column, add the additional cells you want the rule to apply to. Use a comma to seperate and the colon for a range. All cells have to be absolute ($A$1)

    Click Apply and close.

All cells you entered in the Applies to column should now be affected.

    Hope this helps!

a word of advice regarding CF with 2007...sometimes it gets a bit confused and instead of giving a cell the new formats and replacing any that where there before, it ADDS the new formats to what was there. so if yu copy/paste formats 3 times, you could end up with THREE sets of formats in that cell, instead of just 1. check in the formats to make sure
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
