Unhappy Duplicate formula to adjacent cells without changing cell contents that differ cell to cel

    Hi,

I have a price list with varying amounts in columns. I'm want to add a conversion rate of 1.25 to the existing cells content.

    IE: =5500*1.25
    =7500*1.25

Etc, etc. Simple enough, except I have 20 pages of cells. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to add the formula (= ? *1.25)
to the existing cell content using an formula or key short cut. I've now put conversion rate in the document and changing
sum to =5000*G3 so I won't have to worry about this again but I am trying desperately to avoid having to change each and
every cell by hand. Quickest way I have so far is F2, paste and then arrow to put in the equals.

Had another document with 1.35 sum and tried find and replace but it replaces the entire cell content with 1.25.

    Help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Rachel

Write in a blank cell 1.25 or whatever multiple you want..

Copy this cell, select your range of data and 'paste special'--'multiply'
    Life's a spreadsheet, Excel!
    Say thanks, Click *

    Thank you Ace_XL

That is definitely quicker! However, the finished result does not show
the formula, it enters the final value so I have tracability of what the
conversion was and no way to check if any cells were missed?? (clicking
on formula still shows the changed cell as a value)

Not to seem unthankful, because I am so thankful!, but is there a way to
do this action that leaves the finished formula visible for checking at a
    later date?

Aah...I should have mentioned that. Paste special multiply, divide, add, subtract does not provide the formula in the destination cell, unfortunately.

As a workaround, you could keep the 1.25 or your last multiple in a cell (say A1) and if you need to retrieve the original values do a paste special -- divide.

Is that something you can work with?

Yeah, I've done that and I think that will have to be the way forward as I'm starting to suspect I am asking a smidgen too much of Excel. LOL.

One of my boss' is on about changing the conversion rate and I was hoping that if I could duplicate a cell linked formula then he could just change
the master cell and see the whole spreadsheet change so he would have instant results and put the changes under his control.

I am short on time so I will go ahead with your quick change formula and when I have more time then I can do this for him.

I will leave this thread open till the Monday, just in case someone out there knows of a way.

    Thanks for all your help.

If you are ready to undertake a one-time exercise, you could define a named range (say 'Multiplier') and change all your cells to read as Cell_Value*Multiplier

This will enable your boss to run calaculations by just changing the one cell!

Some help and reading on named ranges below
