obtain chronological order without sorting

Good morning,

I wish to display the chronological order of a series of groups but I don't want to use data sort.

It's been driving me mad. Can't attach SS for some reason so here goes.

1000 2.00 2
1000 3.00 4
1000 35.00 7
1000 16.00 6
1000 1.00 1
1000 2.50 3
1000 6.00 5
2000 1.00 2
2000 2.00 3
2000 0.50 1
2000 18.00 4
5100 1.00 1
5100 2.00 2
5100 3.00 3
5100 8.00 6
5100 4.50 4
5100 6.00 5

I wish, for each group in Col A, the order of entries in Col B in Col C.

Is this something you have to do often? Looks like you have them in order in that 3rd column. Can you do a Column A + Column C to give you a unique sorting key? Then you can sort on that new column. 1001, 1002...2001, 2002...5101...

Yes, I do this every day.

I've entered the results in column C manually.

I'm looking to get column C using a formula (and the number of groups can be in the hundreds).

Many thanks for your time but I may not have explained clearly.

I need the results to be in the same layout as in my column C.

i.e. You have data sorted and correctly shown that 35 is 7th but I need that 7 to be in the same row as 35 in column B.
