Lookup with dropdown lists not returning exact matches..

Im trying to use a look up f(x) for a list of names recieving funds from multiple sources. They arent working every day so we have a drop down list set up to only select the runners for that day. The weekly totals page has all their names and how much they did or didnt make for each day. Vlookup has failed me. It appears to be finding the closest match for everyone and returning the same total for the first guy on the list...example attached. Any ideas?

    Hi Ryleygray,

I don't find a vlookup formula on your attached sheet. It sounds like you are using the TRUE as the range_lookup value which needs the values sorted from low to high. Also - are you looking down or across? Do you need HLookup?

    See http://spreadsheets.about.com/od/exc...320vlookup.htm

Yea, I didnt put the formula in the example, because its not working. On table1, I have a column1 with a list of dropdowns for the 3 runners working that day. the subsequent columns will have how much each sever gave that runner for the day. the Second table has ALL of the runners on staff listed in column1. Each column after represent a day of the week. In the example I am only using one day. When I use VLookup it returns the totals for whichever runner finds (correct or not) for every runner on staff.
I'm looking for another formula that will look at the 3 runners I selected via dropdowns on table1, Return their totals for the day and leave 0 in everyone who didnt work. Ill repost the Example with the Vlookup in it to show what its doing. Youll see I only have a/c/e working on table1. yet the table2 shows values for b/d which should be showing zero, as they did not work.

    Hi Rylegray,

Your data structure is a mess. See my example of making it work for you. Learn a little about pivot tables and I think you have a great solution. See the attached with some fake data and an example.
