    tracking hours

I just don't see what's wrong with my spreadsheet. It's a simple 6 column spreadsheet: day, date, arrive, depart, time, and running total. Can I email it so someone can tell me what I'm missing (other than a brain)?

    Re: tracking hours

Thank you! I didn't have [h]:mm on the custom (type) list. Only h:mm was listed. I've added it. Out of curiosity, why do you suppose h:mm worked for the 5 cells before it in the same column? Any idea what h:mm actually means as compared to [h]:mm ? Not that it matters that much - it works - but ignorance is not bliss for me

    Re: tracking hours

I too wonder why and find:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/266691
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/ex...005199500.aspx

and finally using a search of "Excel Format Elapsed Time"
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...001216503.aspx
where it explains it this way...

Displays elapsed time in hours. If you are working with a formula that returns a time in which the number of hours exceeds 24, use a number format that resembles [h]:mm:ss.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.
