Help please! counting number of appearances

Hi all,

I am a complete newb and I need some help from you clever people. Essentially, I need to count the amount of rows of data based on 4 criteria, please see attached document. Also there are two scenarios. Please help anyone.

Hi, i tried that before and it didnt work. i get an error saying the formula contains an error

i forgot to say that im working on a French PC hence it didnt work so i tweeked it a bit so it works now but i wanted the formula to add the number in the corresponding cells of range 4. can you help me please?

Cheers for helping I really appreciate it but still no success, the attached file, size 10.3kb from your previous post does not contain the formula you entered. so I tried it myself but it's not doing it for me.

Just to reiterate, I want to add the number in Range 4 when the cells in
Range 1 = F1,
Range 2 = M1 and
Range 3 = N4.

check cell D2, D3 etc

I see, I'm sorry I didnt realise. However, I was hoping to find a formula that counts the data in Range 4 as the data in this column is the needed. The formula you have inserted in column D actually deleted the data.
