Check for the original 'Conditional formatting' (CF) that you had built in. It referred to Column Q.

If you don't need the CF, you can do away with it.

Re: Employee Allocation - Excel IF & Variable Formulas

    yes i can see.

the Column Q from the 3rd line it will change all columns F / H / J / M to red and grey which it should turn red or grey in case there is any change like was doing before.

how can i fix it without eleminating columns?

    thank you again ace!

Re: Employee Allocation - Excel IF & Variable Formulas

I dont quite understand what your CF rules are doing.

How would a number in Column F/H/J/K/L/M ever equal to the name that is upadted in columns Q or S? What are you trying to do with the CF?

Re: Employee Allocation - Excel IF & Variable Formulas

the CF is looking to Column "Q"

but instead it should be looking to Column C & D

if 2 beds are available & 2 beds are currently occupied than show blank cell

if 2 beds are available & 1 bed is occupied than show "1" green with grey background

if 2 beds are available & 0 beds are occupied than show "2" green with white background

if 2 beds are available & 3 beds are occupied than show "-1" in red cell

i think this is how it should work

    what do you think?
