I have two matrices of same order - equal number of rows and columns. One of the matrices is made up of minimum values while the other one is made up of maximum values. Illustration is given in the file attached herewith. Each cell carries in a matrix a value either 1 or 2 or 3 signifying the strength of relationship between two nodes. I have to find the reachability of each pair of nodes as represented by cells A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3, C1, C2, C3. The reachability matrix asks you to compare any of the the Minimum order cell from Minimum Values Matrix (for example A1) with each of the Maximum order cell in the same row of the Maximum Values matrix (A1, B1, C1) and chose the maximum value from each comparison to create a series of maximum values. In the second step, the smallest value from the new series is picked up for respective location (for example, cell A1) in the new product matrix. The two steps are repeated for every cell of the minimum value order matrix with the same row of maximum value order matrix. The apparently simple task becomes huge in scale if you have matrices to the order of 200 cells etc. Can excel help in carrying out this two step operation? Can somebody please help me in understanding excel functions to run this two step operation.
