Count the number of times a value is followed by another value within a sequence

Hi there,

I am working on a Bird Song matrix that counts the number of times a value (Song) follows another value (Song) within a sequence (Recording). The data has been exported from Access and I am working with an excel that is part of "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010".

Source Data=15794 rows

Source Data-Green
Recording_ID = ColumnA
Song_Type = ColumnB
Recording_Order= ColumnC

The matrix (Blue) starts on Column F with the list distinct Song_types -repeated in every column starting with column G. -- I have given you a small subset to work with which contains two recordings and only two song types. You can download the file from the following link.

The count I am looking for is 4 for C.U follows C.U (G2)

Recording 22530 = 3
Recording 22531 = 1
Count = 4

The count I am looking for is 1 for C.U follows AE.AD.G.N (G3)
The count I am looking for is 0 for AE.AD.G.N follows C.U (H1) -- That is because B5 & B6 are different recordings and numbers are not sequential. Meaning the Recording_Order C5=4 & C6=1. I would think the criteria would have this column incrementing + 1.

I am just learning and any help would be greatly appreciated
