If worksheet 1 cell A1 contains one the following N/S, OP, AFT 1 display a value

    Hi

    Please help me.....

I am looking for a solution to a problem that I have spent a week trying to figure out and I am struggling to find the solution.

If worksheet 1 cell A1 contains one the following
    N/S, OP, AFT.

N/S I need to display number value 3 in worksheet 2 cell A1

OP I need to display number value 4 in worksheet 2 cell A1

Aft I need to display number value 5 in worksheet 2 cell A1

Here is the formula that I have been trying without any success.

    =IF('Time Sheet Week 41'!C44:C45="N/S",3,"OP",4,"AFT",5)

    Your help is appreciated.

    Ellis

    Hi Ellis,

First off, why is your comparison cell a range (C44:C45)... are they merged cells? If you, I think it should only be C44 (check the Name Box to check which cell really contains the data, typically, it's the first cell of the merged cells)

I'm hoping the cell should only be C44, if so, try this Nested IFs formula in your Worksheet2 cell A1

=IF('Time Sheet Week 41'!C44="N/S",3,IF('Time Sheet Week 41'!C44="OP",4,IF('Time Sheet Week 41'!C44="AFT",5,"neither")))

Let me know if this does not work...

    Later,
    Dennis

    Hi Dennis,

Thanks so much for your swift response.

The cells are merged as you explained the data is contained in the first cell. I have tried the Nested IFs formula that you created for me and it works perfectly.

Thanks again, you have made me very happy and saved me a lot of work doing manual inputting.

    Best regards

    Ellis
