I have worked out how to do an 'if' formula on excel; is there a way after the formula finds the info for it to come back with a word like true? if so how is this worked into the formula. Can you write how it would look please as i have wasted hours trying to work it out!!

Well your first part of the IF formula is the logical test, for example if in A1 there was a figure of 1. Then in A2 you enter =A1=1 the result would be TRUE. Is that what you mean!
yes but i can't get the word 'true' to appear

Now that you have fixed your title, can you tell us what your IF formula is, and the cell it is in, and what it is doing, and what you want it to do ... etc?

=IF(A1="Calculation","True","False")
Put this formula in any cell except A1 and then right calculation in A1, you will get True in formula cell, otherwise False will be the result.
