    Date format : mm/dd/yy to dd-mmm-yy format

I have a spreadsheet with share data. On the left is the date column. The dates are entered in the mm/dd/yy format. I want to change the dates to dd-mmm-yy format.

How can I use a function or macro to change the date column to my format (about 5000 lines) ?

    Many thanks.

    Look at Text to Columns

Data >> Data Tools >> Text to Columns >> Next >> Next >> Check Date >> Select format >> Finish
    HTH

    Jeff,

    Tried and it worked !

Many thanks ! Spent some hours last night trying to do it manually and also trying to figure out a way to use VBA to look at the string and then rearrange the numbers in the string.

This is so much easier !

    Many thanks once again !

    Cheerio.

    Jeffery,

    Need your help again.

Tried again this morning and it does not work like before. Excel does not seem to recognise the data in the date column.

    Please help. Thanks.

P/S Please disregard my request here. Found the mistake I made. For the date format, I should select what is the current date format and NOT what I want it to be!
