Help with formula in one column with 2 diff names

I am trying to calculate how many times 2 names appear in 1 column from a different sheet. I have about 30 different vendor names in about 300 rows in this column and trying to create a chart on how many times each vendor name appears.

I have tried, what seems like, 15 different formulas and either get an error message or a 0. Please help.

Below is 2 of the formulas I've tried.

=SUMIF(COUNTIFS(tblNCRLog!M2:M330,"SCOT INDUSTRIES"), COUNTIFS(tblNCRLog!M2:M300," Scot Industries, Inc."))

    =COUNTIF(tblNCRLog!(M2:M300,"SCOT INDUSTRIES", "Scot Industries, Inc."))

All suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Could you post a sample workbook with your issue? It is hard to figure out what is happening without seeing any data or information.

Having said this, I think you may have messed up the syntax.

    Try this

=COUNTIF(tblNCRLog!M2:M330, "SCOT INDUSTRIES") + COUNTIF(tblNCRLog!M2:M300, "Scot Industries, Inc")
