Counting using criteria from two columns

Hello...I'm new here...thanks in advance for the help

I'm stumped with a counting formula...

From a column with a hard number...I've successfully counted with this formula: =SUMPRODUCT(($C$21:$C$226="jared")*(D$21:D$226<>""))

What I want to do is to count from a column with a sum instead of a hard number.

Can I somehow replace the <>"" with a something that will count a summed value greater than zero? Or is there a different formula that I should be using?

    Thanks...

Re: Counting using criteria from two columns

Why not change <>"" to >0 then?

    And why not use COUNTIFS?

    You're welcome.

    =COUNTIFS($C$21:$C$226,"jared",D$21:D$226,">0")
