Question Calculating percentage occurrence of numbers

    Hello Everyone,

i am just beginning my honours project and I need to analyse datasets that are approximately 60,000 rows long.

I need to be able to determine how many times a number occurs to gain a percentage of occurrences.
However the problem is the numbers are weights and vary greatly so I can not use the formula where you specify which number you want counted because I do not know every value present.

    can someone please help me!

    Jordi

    Hi Jordi,

I suggest you use Pivot Tables.

    Highlight your list of weights.

    Insert, Pivot Tables

Add weights into the Row Labels and Values

In the Values Section, click on the triangle symbol and choose Value Field Settings…
In the Summarize Values By, choose Count
In the Show Values As, choose % of Grand Total
    Press OK

Is this what you are looking for?

Let me know if you don't follow...

    Dennis
