Matching values of one column with another rows

    Hi,

Can anyone help me out in solving my problem.

Concern is: I have on column having IDs of Agents, and after that their reporting managers ID as per rank in the system. I have another list of IDs having HODs ID. What I want is IDs of HOD against each Agent... HOD IDs could be in any columns in reporting managers. For Eg. Agent ID is 39, he reports to 7733, 7733 reports to 7403, and so on In seventh level I got the ID of HOD 5160.. So I want 5160 should appear in HOD column againt agent 39..

Attached is Excel for you reference..

    Hi bimal,

    Welcome to the forum.
So basically if I provide the HOD for "reporting ID 7" that will be enough as ultimately, reporting id7's manager is HOD only and this is what you are looking for.

Also.. there could be a second approach to this.. as reporting id 7 is HOD.. then what you need that column I should be filled in with column H's ID.. thats it.

Let me know which approach is fine.. thanks.

    Hi Dilip,

    Thanks of ur attention.
No, Concern is every (mostly) all agent is under one HOD, the ID of HOD can fall in any level. It could be in 1st level of agent or it could be at 3rd level or it could be at 9th level. What I want is against each agent who is the HOD..
