    IF Statement and Conditional Formatting

    Hello,

I am having a problem and need some help.

I want to apply conditional formatting to one tab in my workbook. We shall call this Tab A.

What I want to do is apply a color to a percentage. This percentage is how well a student did on a certain exam.

The formatting I want to apply to this cell is either green, light green, yellow or red. The numbers I will use to determine the formatting are in another tab (Tab B). They consist of a min/max for 4 different categories (advanced, proficient, basic and below basic). These exist for grades 3 through 8.

To further add to the complication, in tab A, there are 6 possible grades listed: 3 through 8.

I want to figure out a way to conditionally format the cell in Tab A based on the grade level listed in Tab A and the appropriate min/max numbers for the appropriate grade level and category in Tab B.

An example would be student John who received a 75% on the exam and is a 5th grader. This would be formatted as yellow because in tab 2, a 75% for a 5th grader would fall into the second category, in between 70% and 86%.

I can provide more information if needed.

    Thank you

    Can you upload a workbook?
A macro does what you tell it, not what you want.
