Conditional formatting issue for Excel 2007

Hello folks - I am attempting to do conditional formatting for two sets of columns in Excel 2007.

1st of columns compare the amount of fee from one column to the fee in the next column.
What I would like to do is compare those two columns and if the numbers don't match, I would like to make the two cells with different amounts red.

2nd set columns to do something similar, only this time with dates.

Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried various conditional formatting ideas, but for some reason, they are not always turning colors, even the amounts next to each other are different. Just want to make sure I am doing this right.

    Thank you folks.

i am unable to download files at the moment (setting up a new pc), so i cant open your file if you were to post 1. but try something like this....

assuming fee1 is in A1 and fee2 is in B1

CF for A1.... =A1<>b1 format as required
CF for B1.....=B1<>A1 format as required

FD - would the same general rule apply if my column goes from q2 to q200?

yes. buy before you go into CF, highlight the entire range you want to apply it to. then go in and set you're rules - they will be applied to the entire range.

another way, if youy have already set some rules, is to go back into CF, and on the 1st screen where it shows what rules you already have, adjust the ranges to them, on the right

Ok..lets try this one more time..with an attachment.
I think looking back on my post, I mis-typed something and didn't know it.
Although I am trying to compare information in two columns, the only rows I want highlighted are the specific rows where the fees are different highlighting the two cells where the fees don't match.

I am also looking to see how to compare dates to see if they match also.

I am attaching a version of the spreadsheet so people can see.
Fdibbins - thank you for your help.
    Sorry about that.
