Question Add Valute to the Color of a cell

    Hello
Is it Possible to add value to the color of a cell in excel 2010?

    fks:
The Cell B52 already has the value 8.
But add an secound value to the color "Blue" so that a "blue" Cell has the value of 2.

Then i can have to values in one cell to use in diffrent formulas. The value 8 and 2 becuse the cell is blue.

Is that possible? to add value for colors.

    Thanks for reply

Upload example workbook with your input and desired output
Never use Merged Cells in Excel

I think 2010 has a way to return the colour value in formulas,BUT I do not know how useful it is, as I believe it returns it as a hex string..I guess it's time to upgrade to check this stuff out
A picture may be worth a thousand words, BUT, a sample Workbook is worth a thousand screenshots!
-Add a File - click advanced (next to quick post), scroll to manage attachments, click, select add files, click select files, select file, click upload, when file shows up at bottom left, click done (bottom right), click submit

Re: Add Valute to the Color of a cell

Let me try to explain agien.
fks cell B52 and B53 have the value 8. If i have a easy formula in cell C50 like:" =B52+B53" Then the Value there will be 16
I want fks that if the cell B52 was blue it would add an extra value that i could use. So i can make a formula using someting like "Bluecells + Yellow Cells"
But not counting the number in the cells just like the color blue has value 2 and yellow value 6.

Hope it was a little more understandingnow. Kinda hard to explain in english.

Re: Add Valute to the Color of a cell

And what would be result =B52+B53 if B52 is blue with value 8 and B53 yellow with value 8?

    Would that be =2 (blue) + 6 (yellow) = 8
    or it would be = 8 (value) + 8 (value) + 2 (blue) + 6 (yellow) = 24

And what if B52 is blue and B53 no color?

"Colour is NOT Data"...if you can get colour codes, they truly have no relationship to the data you are working with, better to use the conditional formatting to get the proper results..or a Macro/VBA Sub

Re: Add Valute to the Color of a cell

(blue has the value 2) (yellow has the value 6)

Then you could sum alle the blue cells indebendant of the number in them. Just use a value of the color in the cells.

So i could use "blue cell + yellow cell = 8"

Not taking any effect on the number in the cell.

    btw: Thanks for reply

Re: Add Valute to the Color of a cell

I believe you need to add each BLUE BACKGROUND CELL / RANGE in a NAMED range called BLUECELLS. In the same way it should be done for another named range called YELLOWCELLS.

Then you can simply put =Bluecells + YellowCells will get the desired Total

If the colored cells are limited and can be added in named ranges manually then follow the below link for clear instructions for creating NAMED RANGEs.
