school timetable

am in charge of manually generating a school master timetable.can this process be automated using excel?

If you could describe EXACTLY how you do it manually, then it could be automated, although it will probably be a big job, and would involve VBA rather than formulae.

this is how i do it manually.i have 8 classes c1,c2... To c8. Each class does 12 different subjects.maths(6 lessons per week),eglish(6),kis(5),phy(4),chem(4),bio(4),geo(3),his(3),cre(3),bus(3),agr(3),pe(1). There 10 periods per day.school days run from mon to fri. my work is to fit all those into a single master timetable for all classes such that there are no two subjects per day being done at the same time.
