Adding a value depending on Drop-down-list chosen value

    So my problem is this:
I have a sort of fantasy Tour de France competition worksheet. What I want is whenever I choose a rider from a drop-down-list he is going to be given points based on the row he is selected in. The points should be added to a overall standings-list on another worksheet.
So how do I get a cell to change, depending on which value (in this case Rider) is chosen from an independent drop-down-list?

best way is to have a table and index/match or vlookup.

if you upload a book with what you need it should be pretty straight forward

I will make the workbook complete (atm it's only 2 stages out of 21), and then I'll upload it when I get back from School in about 3 and a half hours.
