Highlight or place "X" when cell matches any other cell within the entire workbook.

I currently maintain a library of Serial #'s for 10's of thousands of parts. They are spread across 20+ worksheets and separated into single columns within those worksheets. I recently added a new worksheet in order to keep track of dispositioned components and I would like some help in creating a code/format in order to make a cell on the new work sheet format if it matches ANY cell in the entire workbook (aside from itself obviously).

    I have attached an example.

    Book1.xls

    Thank you

    Hi Mr.Atlantis

You don't care to capture the location...just that it exists?

Exactly, its just to notify me as I type more or less. If in the event it does trigger a number that has previously been put in, I would simply use the find option to locate.

    Hi Mr.Atlantis

Sounds as if you want a ChangeEvent Code...after you've typed a Serial Number in Column B of Dispositioned see if it exists anywhere in the Workbook. Is this correct? Could take a bit of time for the procedure to run if you have

    jaslake,

Ok, I'll be sure to check in on the thread tonight. Haha, yeah may seem rediculous, but yes there are 53,962 components currently spread across the actualworkbook.

    Thanks again

Where would I enter this line of code you wrote if I were to apply it to a different workbook? The one I submitted was an example, and would I need to make any significant changes?

    Hi Mr.Atlantis

If you're entering Data in Column 2 and want the X in Column 3 you don't need to make any changes to the Code except what I've noted here. The changes indicated makes this Code Universal
