Pricing Formula to calculate higher of 2 non-sequential days. Weekends default to Tuesday

I input daily pricing which is multiplied by a predetermined quantity. However, the pricing is based on the higher of two prices: day of posting or 2nd day after (whichever is greater) times the daily quantity. The weekend pricing is where I am having issues as weekends correspond to slightly different dates due to how they are treated or considered.

For example: Monday's posted price would be compared to Wednesday's and the higher of the two would be multiplied times the Monday quantity.

    Tuesday compared to Thursday
    Wednesday compared to Friday.
    Thursday compared to Monday
    Friday compared to Tuesday
    Saturday, Sunday compared to Tuesday.

(Friday, Saturday, Sunday are technically considered to be weekends or the same)

Seeking input to create a formula that fits this scenario.

    use

    =WORKDAY(A1,2)

to determine the comparative date, where A1 contains your posted date
