How to apply a percentage formula across multiple cells/single worksheet

    Hi,

I hope someone can help. I'm trying to apply a percentage formula across an entire worksheet (I want to end up with 85% of each existing figure in each populated cell), currently the task is completed cell by cell by a colleague, I know this can be improved upon.

I've figured out how to do this column by column, but this entails adding in a column against each existing column and adding the formula in (in column E I add the formula =D3*85%), dragging it down to the bottom and then repeating for each populated column....this leaves me with the original figures and the actual figures (85%) I want. I would show you a screen print but this forum doesn't allow me to paste information.

Is there a way to apply the formula to all cells populated with figures in the worksheet? So that each individual original figure is amended to 85% of its total....(i.e if the original figure is 100, after application of the formula it appears as 85).

    Many thanks,
    Claire

    Hi Martin,

Many thanks for this, unfortunately I'm not very IT literate, can you explain further, I can't work out where the formula is....basically I need the full dumbing down treatment with step-by-step guide, I haven't used Excel for over 10yrs...

    Thank you,
    Claire
