How do I copy a vlookup to further rows without it altering the coding?

Hi - thanks to Excel Forum's help I managed to create a vlookup earlier. I now need to copy the same vlookup to subsequent rows below. However first correct row formula is

    =VLOOKUP(A1,Sheet1!A1:B187,2,FALSE)

when I copy and paste this to the next row it changes to:

    =VLOOKUP(A2,Sheet1!A2:B188,2,FALSE)

    I need it to read

    =VLOOKUP(A2,Sheet1!A1:B187,2,FALSE)

    ?

Ps I am a beginner to Excel formulas so need simple explanation! Thank you.
