Cool Count number of occurrences in a day

I have an extremely large data set (>12000 points). Column A is date, column B, C, D, E, F and G are all other values of no importance (X, Y coordinates, etc) for this question. Each day, there are between 1 and 40 points. I want to know how many data points I have per day. Something like,
    01/01/01=2
    01/02/01=13
    02/03/01=30

Seeing as how these data points cover over 12 years it is unreasonable for me to use countif=datex

    Is there an alternative method?

    Thanks in advance,
    B

    Try pivot tables instead

I have just solved a similar "problem". You may want to look at this post (click on the word 'post') and see if it helps.

If not, like Ace_XL, pivot tables can help you too.

Worst comes to worst, you could upload a sample of the data as well as the desired results. I believe excel experts here could help you out.

The pivot tables worked well for me. Thank-you.

Additionally, is there a way in which I can remove any days which have less that say 5 data points using Pivot tables?
