Is there a simple way I can remove this from my formulas?
e.g. A1*B1 =
where B1 will either be a number or the following words; exc, inc, by others, more info.

Wrap the formula in the IFERROR.
=IFERROR(A1*B1,"") Or what ever you want to return if it is a error.
