    Legislative crooks

I'm a reporter in a state capital city who receives a daily email from the local jail of everyone who has been arrested that is quite long and in an Excel format. I also have a list of every lawmaker and statewide elected official. I want to compare the two lists on a daily basis to make sure our lawmakers aren't having too much fun. So my question is what function or formula would I need to compare the jailhouse list with the lawmaker list to see if there is a match in names? Once I have the function, I intend on writing a macros to make this a seamless exercise every day. Thanks for any help.

So, your Mayor happens to be called John Smith and there also a John Smith who has been arrested - are you saying that you want these to be flagged as being the same?

Re: Matching names in different worksheets

Essentially yes. I want to be flagged that a John Smith was arrested. That allows me to look at date of birth and other identifying information contained in the jail log to determine if it's the mayor. Conversely, if 20 Smiths are arrested that day I don't want to miss John Smith.
