Counting the number of parallel periods

Hi,

I have the following problem:

I have a workbook with several employees. These employees have worked on different porjects during the year. Now I want to count the number of projects they worked at at the same time. So I want to take every unique employee number and count the number of projects they worked at simultaniously.

It kind off looks like this:

I have excel 2010 (and 2007) and tried to work something out with powerpivot. But failed. Is there an easy way to do this?

Hi and welcome to the forum

not every1 can open .png files, myself included (company firewalls and stuff). It would be far better if you could upload a sample of your workbook, showing what you have, and an example of your expected outcome. Thanks

Having said that, have you tried using countifS()?

Thanks! attached you'll find the file. I thought of countifs, but I can't figure out how to do it properly because all the projects have to be compared to eachother, and there's no maximum to the number of parallel projects. In the master file, there +400k rows. Thanks for the help!
