Cool Calculate a function in descending order with an absolute reference?

I have attached the file of the assignment I've been working on for three hours and I still can't seem to get these formulas. Can anyone help me?

In cell E6, insert a function that will rank the value in D6 based on the occupancy rates of all five apartment complexes, in descending order. Enter the range as an absolute reference. Copy the function down through E10.

In cell F6, insert a function that will sum the potential rent (i.e., the total rent if all units are occupied) for the apartment complex in A6. Copy the function down through F10.

Also if you have time can you help me with these two questions as well?

On the Database worksheet, perform an advanced filter on the list in the range A11:H24, using the criteria range A2:H4. Filter the data in place.

On the Loan worksheet, in cell E5, insert a PMT function, using the values in E2:E4 for the arguments.

    This is the document: Exploring_e07_Grader_EOC.xlsx

This is my first time on this forum so please forgive me if I posted anything wrong. I really appreciate anyone's response.

    Re: Advanced Excel Formula Questions.

apaya, welcome to the forum. Is this homework, or a college/class assignment?
    Brendan.

Ok - I note you've changed the title, per Jeff's request.

We can't do your homework for you, my friend - how else will you learn what you need to pass your course? Not to mention, how unfair would that be on your classmates who are doing the hard work themselves?

Having said that - if there's a specific part your stuck on, ask us about that. Tell us what you've tried (so we don't waste time trying the same), and we'll see what we can do to help. But don't expect anyone here to provide you with the answers on a plate, as that won't happen.

What I posted is not the full assignment.. I've posted 4 out of 15 questions that I am stuck on. I have done most of the assignment already. I only posted the problems that I am having major issues with. I have no one else that is able to assist me with this.

I appreciate that you're not asking us to do the whole assignment, however that's not much comfort for those of us that actually studied our way through college; and again, is potentially very unfair on your classmates.

    Anyhow:

Have you had a look at any of the RANK functions?

Do you know what absolute referencing is?

Yes I've heard of ranked functions but I dont know how to apply them to this question. I'm not sure about the absolute referencing part.

Re: Calculate a function in descending order with an absolute reference?

Well this forum was just a waste of time. I came on here to get help and was just insulted. I am taking this class online so there are no lectures, I have to basically teach myself this course... So for you to say "that's not much comfort for those of us that actually studied our way through college" is just completely rude and uncalled for. You don't know me or how hard I've worked. I did study and I've worked on this assignment for two weeks. I didn't ask for the answers to be handed to me I asked for help this was my last option. Now I'll just figure it out on my own. I don't need help from some rude internet troll who thinks he's better than me. Have a nice day.

You're right - I don't know you, or how hard you have or haven't worked. What I do know is that Excel's built-in help is a great resource, which generally explains things quite well, and often has great examples of functions/formulas in action; and I know that if you had a look there, you'd find the answer to at least one of your questions.

Also, if you don't fully understand absolute referencing, there are plenty of internet resources/articles which explain this in great detail - maybe you overlooked all of them while you were working so hard.

And finally - personal insults like that probably aren't the best way to encourage forum members to assist you. You have a nice day too.
