Question Invisible blank space in cells after text?

I am having a problem importing an Excel file into an Access database.

The problem seems to be stemming from the fact that in the Excel file, there is some kind of invisible blank space after the text in each cell.

In the formula bar, there is no trace of this "blank space". But if I double click into the cell, then click out of it again, a blank line appears in the same cell directly underneath the text value. Similar to when you type a value into a cell, then press ALT+Enter to go to the next line without going to the next cell.

Is there any quick way for me to remove these "invisible" blank spaces in the Excel file before importing it into Access? I tried doing a find and replace of blank spaces, but it didn't recognize them, which is why I describe them as "invisible".

You have to find and replace the line break character. So Ctrl+H to open the find and replace dialogue box. In the 'find' box, hold down Alt and type 010. You have to use the numeric keypad and not the numbers along the top of the keyboard for this to work.

Leave the 'replace with' box blank and hit 'replace all'.
