    Excel filtering (words from numbers?)

    Hi,
I'm new to this & wondered if anyone could help me out? I have a great excel sheet for my sons football team (which I downloaded from internet) but there is just one issue that I cannot seem solve. We have 1 trainer of the week & 1 man of the match - which doesn't cause any issues. But if we have a player that scores more than 1 goal it's an issue. (ie. If I type "trainer" it will register "1" in the correct column when collating info but sometimes as goalscorers may score more than once but if I type in "score" it will register only once & I don't know how to make it see when a goal scorer has scored 1,2,3 etc....

    The formula used is: =COUNTIF(B9:N9,"*"&Q$8&"*")

Ideally I wanted the spreadsheet to go down the page as opposed to across but couldn't figure this out basis what I was trying to achieve - any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Can anyone help please?

    Many thanks in advance.
