Wink PLEASE help (this one should be easy...)

Hello esteemed Excel Wizards, I am working on a spreadsheet and have met my match with a particular formula, and would be forever grateful to get some assistance. This seems pretty easy to me, so I am a bit frustrated I cannot figure it out...Anyway, I have ten cells, say H3:H12. In those ten cell are a mixture of numbers, and some have words.

I would like to take the average of that range (if the value is a number), but exclude the max and min outliers from the average. For example, if the values are 1, 2, 3, 4, #NUM, #VALUE, 5, #ERROR, 6, 7; I want the formula to throw out 1, 7, #NUM, #VALUE, and #ERROR (because they are not numbers), and average 2,3,4,5,6.

Please help me, I'm stumped. Thanks!

    =TRIMMEAN(IF(ISNUMBER(H3:H120), H3:H12), 2/COUNT(H3:H12))

The formula MUST be confirmed with Ctrl+Shift+Enter.

Please take a few minutes to read the forum rules about thread titles, and amend yours accordingly.
