    How to augment the column index number in VLOOKUP when copying in the same column?

    Hello,

    I am trying to augment the column index number of my Vlookup formulas, while I am copying them in the same column: the column index number needs to be +1 but I am copying the formulas under the original formulas, so in the same column. How can I do this?

    Regards,

    Karel

    G'day and welcome to the forum,

    Not sure I fully understand what you mean but I'm going to have a crack at the question before I go to bed.

    =VLOOKUP(lookup_value,table_array,column()+1,[range_lookup])

    Your answer is in the red.

    Eg if you are writing the formula =column()+1 in Column B the number you'll return will is 3. Cos B is the 2nd column in the excel and you plus one equals three.
    Have I made you happy ??? If yes, please make me happy by pressing the http://www.excelforum.com/images/buttons/reputation-40b.png Add Reputation button in my post.

    Re: How to augment the column index number in VLOOKUP when copying in the same column?

    Hey,

    This would help if I copy the formulas in the column next to the original column but I want to copy the formulas unther the original so in the same column. With the idea to use 'Column()+1', the column index number would remain identical as before...
    Did I explain myself clearly?

    Regards
