Change backwards number format to date format

I have imported data where the date shows i.e. 20120627 i need it to be 06/27/2012. Is there a way to correct this?

    Providing that
    a) It always comes in the same format
    b) The number is in cell A1
Then this function will convert it for you

    =VALUE(MID(A1,5,2)) & "/" & VALUE(RIGHT(A1,2)) & "/" & VALUE(LEFT(A1,4))
    Elegant Simplicity............. Not Always

Try highighting the column of numbers
    Data - Text to Columns
    Delminated - Next
    UNcheck all options - Next
    Choose Date - YMD
    Click Finish

Format the column in a date format of your choice.
