A problem getting Excel cells to subtract C-D-E to get the required result.

C being the starting time 7:30
D being the break :30
E being the finish time 16:00
A SUM application but that does not work for me =SUM(E8-C8-D8), I was hoping to reach an 8 or an 8.4 for an 8 hour answer.
But, have not been able to achieve this answer goal, to copy through a number of cells with the same information in and the same answer required to alter to the changed hours input, and end up with the correct hour result, corresponding with the hours worked.
I have tried multiplying *24 and still haven't been able to achieve the 8 hour answer. Can someone help, please?

No need for the SUM function.

Make sure you enter the break time in h:mm format: 0:30

=(E8-C8-D8)*24

Format as General or Number

That is fantastic!..... it made a difference, without the SUM and with the 0: before the :30.
I took off the *24,as it was still coming up with a #value.. and it worked straight away. 8 hours.
