Unable to Access Some Tools in Excel Spreadsheet

I am new to Excel and have been working on a downloaded spreadsheet template. Some features are listed on the toolbar but cannot be selected (they are not 'highlighted'). The ones I can't access are the Redo, Sort, Autosum, and Filter options. If I go into the Formulas tab, everything is available except the Autosum. There are several items that I cannot get to under the Data and Review tabs. Is there a way to turn these features on? The ones that I really would like to access are Sort, Autosum and perhaps the spell check. Thank you!

No, there's no password required.

I tried to follow your instructions, which seemed clear enough, but when I go to the Review tab, there is no "changes" options; I have "comments," "Protection," and "Share." Under the Protection tab, I have Sheet, Workbook, Password and Permissions. The cells/rows on my spreadsheet do not appear to be locked because I can make changes to them.

yep, the sheet is protected.

Right click on the sheet's Tab, and select "Unprotect Sheet"
