Formula pattern recognition

I don't have the luxury of seeing your spreadsheet so it leaves me with gaps - generally have to be filled with assumptions like I presume that you have a sheet called "all". Are your values reflecting 1 column x 4 rows of data or do you have data that is represented by 5 columns x 4 rows ?

I am also not clear on the question. Is the concern that as you copy the formula, the column references change ? If so, you can make the column references static, i.e. $H$3:$H$6 - which keeps the referenced cells static even if you copy the formula to other cells.
Or is the concern that the formula is not counting all the occurances of the word "recognised" across your selection ?
