    Elliminating Characters

Is there a formula that will let me select only the first (or last) characters of a cell up to the first space?
    Example:
Cell A1 contains; "14902115 First Part"
Cell A2 contains; "1402111 Second Part"
    I want a formula in cells B1 & B2 that will return the characters 14902115 (B1) and 1402111 (B2)

    hi Brian Matlack, try:
    =LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1)-1)

or if you need it to be a number:
    =LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1)-1)+0

Thanks, if you have clicked on the * and added our rep.
