Lightbulb Trying to combine IF function with concatenate, I think...

Hi All,

i am new to this forum, so i couldn't look around to see if this query of mine has already been resolved. Also a very bare amateur with excel.

Here's what i am trying to do -

Column A contains a set of data(A, B, C, D, E). Column B contains another set of data(1, 2, 1, 2, 1). Column C, another set(4, 4, 3, 3, 4). And so on...

A-1,4...
B-2,4...
C-1,3...
D-2,3...
E-1,4...

I need a way to display the following result, with use of excel functions-

1 = A, C, E
2 = B, D
3 = C, D
4 = A, B, E

My apologies if I am insulting anybody's intelligence here, for this may be a very trivial query. But all things start small.

Thanks & Regards,
Sid.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

Yes, you can use Concatenate combining with various more formula like COUNTIF, IF and ISNUMBER with SEARCH, etc to do this.

For best results, can you provide a small sample file with dummy data? It will also be much easier for others to help and give you advice.

1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools

I was really hoping that you upload an actual workbook with expected results, not a picture file. Others might just think you are expecting someone to reproduce your workbook and upload it for you.

See if the attached file is what you are looking for.

Surely That wasn't my intention. But here you go.

Excel Roster Dummy.xlsx

I looked into your COMBINE excel work sheet. And I have to admit, i was looking for something more generic.
As you might have realized, What i am trying to do is trying to create a monthly roster, and figure out who are the people working a particular shift.

Thanks & Regards,
Sid.
