Formula picking up same number twice but it should only be counted once

I am working on a spreadsheet were I am trying to determine how many trucks have come through our shipping yard on a daily basis. I need to enter each date, bill of lading and product. Some BOLs can have multiple products so the BOL will show up a couple times on the spreadsheet. We determine the number of trucks by the bill of lading. So if on 5/1/13, we had one truck stop by with three products the same BOL will be entered three times. Is there a certain formula or recommendation of how to resolve this issue? I have tried the IF, SUMIF and CountIF – but I can’t determine a way to have this truck show up as 1 instead of 3. Thanks for your help. Matt

hi mgren55, welcome to the forum. Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.

Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title. Maybe something like "Unique Count of B/Ls"

To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

    after that, try:
    =SUMPRODUCT((A2:A10<>"")/COUNTIF(A2:A10,A2:A10&""))
    assuming B/Ls in A2:A10

I am still coming up with the same issue. Can you take a look at the attached spreadsheet and show me on there? Thanks.
