Convert Function

I am supposed to complete the following exercise:

Using formulas, calculate the suspect’s minimum and maximum heights in inches. What is the mode of each?

I have a column of varying heights 6', 5'11-6'2, etc. What is the best way to accomplish this task without having to break it all up?

Thanks,

staccee

This sounds like a homework assignment?
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

No it's not homework. It's work-related. There is one column:

6'
5'11-6'01'
5'09-5'10
etc

Re: Convert Function

i would suggest you upload a sample work book, (all sensitive data removed), showing what data you are working with, a few examples of what your expected outcome is, and how you arrived at that
To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

Hi stacee,

Find attached a Non-VBA method to get your answer. You will need to learn how to do a "Text To Column" and a formula that converts ft'in" to inches. Look at the formulas in the attached.

Re: Convert Function

im not sure what you mean by MODE here ; mode is the most common occurring value so mode of 10000000101 would be 0
anyway heres a way to extract data
