Working Validation No Longer Works After Shifting to another Column for the Source of Data

Hi Guys,

I really need your help in my problem. It's very simple but I don't know why it is not working. I just need to shift the validation of cell c5 (Job Order Form sheet) to column BG of sheet "A". It should be simple but whenever I change it, the validation no longer works. You can still see the JEA-XXX but it can no longer select the right data from sheet "A". It's like my whole code is just depending on the column "T" of Sheet "A". I have been fixing this for a week, I hope you guys could help me. I am now really clueless what is the source of the problem of this excel sheet.

Thanks in advanced.

Please see attachment for the actual excel file.

Hi young_padawan_in_exl

I could not reproduce your problem, but when I tried, Excel said that I needed to include other cells? The obvious answer is that it is the merging of C5 and D5 that is causing the problem. Try un-merging and see if this allows you to move the validation reference. You can always re-merge them after.

Hi Sir Alastair,

I did what you said where in I unmerged the C5 and D5 and point my validation to new column which is the column BG of sheet A. Still, whenever I point out my validation to a new column, all of my codes suddenly no longer works. Hope that someone could help me. THanks.

I also already attached the updated document which is the one that no longer works.

Regards,
Dan

I dont actually see a DV in JOB ORDER C5? I know 2007 cannot reference other sheets directly with DV, it needs a named range, but I thought 2010 had overcome that (I use 2007). As a suggestion, try giving the range on A a name, and then reference that in the DV in C5?
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Hi young_padawan_in_exl

It's been a long time since I was called "Sir" (and then I think they may have meant "Serf" ! )

I cannot reproduce your problem. The Data Validation in Sheet Job Order Form is bringing up all the references from BG in Sheet A.

As FDibbins could not see the DV (can he see the one attached to #3?), I suspect that the sheet may be corrupt. Try copyin and pasting to another sheet and see if the problem persists.

Regards
Alastair
