Find highest and lowest values for a range of dates

I have a spreadsheet of share prices covering a two year period, and what i want to be able to do is find the highest and lowest share price for a range of dates.

eg. between the period 01/11/2007 - 30/11/2007 showing the highest and lowest share price.

I think it is possibly a VLookup type formula, but am not sure.

My dates are in Column A2:A784 and my prices are in column E2:E784.

Any help would be appreciated!

i want to be able to enter various dates in I5 and J5 and show the highest and lowest price from column E for that period.
