Pulling all information from one excel and populating as an average in other excel

I have two excels I'm working with. I'm pulling all information from one excel sheet and having it average in another excel sheet. The problem is one cell will generate fine, but the same formula is another cell and that information won't generate at all. I'm using edit links to connect the two excels together. Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    General Excel.JPGAverage Excel.JPG I have included the general information excel and the excel where I want to generate their information. This is the file extension =IF($C$3="", "", IFERROR(AVERAGE(IF(TRIM('C:\Users\*******\Documents\Gate Data\Gate Data.xls'!GATE)&'C:\Users\********\Documents\Gate Data\Gate Data.xls'!DATE=B8&$C$3, 'C:\Users\*******\Documents\Gate Data\Gate Data.xls'!DUR, "")),""))

It's still difficult to see what you would like to do! could you post a sample workbook with the two worksheets, books excluding any sensitive info. It is easier to work on the example rather than look at the JPG you posted.

Please do not upload a picture of your file...rather, upload a sample of your workbook, showing what data you are working with, a few samples of your expected outcome is (manually entered is ok) and how you arrived at that. (exclude sensitive info)
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
    2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools

Without having somthing to look at and i am going to take a guess.

You say the formula is the same, but check closely on the cell that will not generate at all. Are the cell row/column the same as the cell that generates the formula correctly?

If you copied the cell that correctly generated your formula and pasted it into another area of the worksheet you would need to make sure your formula lock's the original cells

    For example

This is what you would get if you copied and pasted one cell over

For the cell that correctly computed your formula have it look like this

Notice the "$" signs within the formula. This will lock them in place so no matter where you copy and paste on a sheet it will only use those cell to pull information from.

    Hope this helps.
