    How Can I populate a result in a cell to the right of a based on a choice frompopdown menu

    I am a Novice excel user, sorry if this question has been ask and answer many times before. Nothing I have read seem to help me.

    I am trying to build a template,with a dropdown menus ( I have the menu part down) depending on the choice in the dropdown the result will populate in the column to the right.

    example: E6 will have choice of .05min - 6.5mh , F6 I want it to enter a formula like =sum(C6*what ever the choice is) so if I choose 5min I want it to populate =Sum(C6*.083)

    formula in

    g6= c6*f6

    Hi Woods,

    I'm not following how 5min. gets you .083? Do you have a table that you have to refer to? If so, what is that table? What is on your dropdown menu?

    Can you give examples in your spreadsheet with results that you want to see?

    I am sorry if I didn't make any since. I will try again.

    My columns are labeled Qnt,Unit,Formula,MH, MH Burden, Labor total, Material Cost, material total, totals

    I will enter a Qnt ( Cell C6)in D6 select a unit (SQFT,LF,EA), in cell E6 Select from a drop down from 5min to 6.5hr in cell F6 I want it to populate the result of the drop down choice if its 5min 10min 15min and so on. the formula I manually enter is =Sum(C6*.08) or what ever I choose in the drop down menu.
    My result should give me how many Man Hours Based on Quantity

    If you just add values in column E (the drop down from AB..); then your problem wil be solved.

    You can add the tekst mh in cell E5 to make it clear.

    Otherwise you could work with left / right to determine your value, but I prefer option 1.

    How's this... check out column AC, I added a lookup table here... a simple vlookup will help here... study how vlookups work and if you still don't get it, just let us know...
