    YTD Averages using Multiple Criteria

    Hi,

I am trying to format a spreadsheet so that a ytd average will calculate for users. The file is set up in the following way:

    L J K Q
    5/21/2013 May 2013 8
    4/28/2012 Apr 2012 9
    1/20/2011 Jan 2011 10

Where the column L represents the date of service, J represents the month of service, K represents the year of service, and Q represents the time duration for each service. I set up the J and K columns thinking it would be easier to use an Averageifs function.

When looking at 2012 through the month of Feb, I tried:

    =averageifs($Q$2:$Q$1000,$J$2:$J$1000,"Jan" or "Feb",$K$2:$K$1000,"2012")

However, this doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions? Thank you.
